Initial Concept

The concept for the solid oak Olivia rectangular dining table was family - a beautiful statement piece to accompany the Olivia dining chairs, creating a dining space to share a meal and stories of the day, a place to connect and relax. The design welcomes the entire family to pull up a seat and simply be together, while providing space for an extra place setting as required.

The initial idea for the Olivia rectangular dining table combines form and function, is true to the Scandinavian design IconByDesign is known for, while keeping up our proud tradition of valuing authenticity of materials to craft quality furniture, designed for living.

Our Mid-Century Modern Olivia dining table is constructed from solid American oak with strong, cylindrical legs neatly aligned to the curve of the table top. The Olivia table melds a playful, casual edge into her smooth, modern, Scandinavian-inspired design.

Sourcing of Materials

We work hard to ensure that we’re always producing sustainable furniture. For example, the solid American oak which makes up the bulk of the Olivia rectangular dining table is sourced from American forests which embrace sustainable principles - meaning the wood is sustainably harvested, works to restore the ecosystem, implements a replanning process, undertakes consistent environmental monitoring, and respects the land rights of indigenous peoples.

We also use oak because it's hardy and it lasts - it has a natural strength which makes it ideal for the interior home environment. Unlike veneered furniture, there's less damage from wear and tear so you don't have to throw it out to replace it with something equally replaceable.
